An Operating Project is the vehicle wherein an individual, group of individuals, or family can accomplish their charitable desires allowing them to “take their vision to the world.” An Operating Project offers the opportunity to put feet to a vision! New Horizons Foundation, Inc allows individuals the opportunity to fulfill their charitable vision without the time and expense of obtaining their own tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status.

In establishing an Operating Project at New Horizons Foundation you will receive personalized service from a staff with over 20 years experience who will help to ensure your charitable vision is achieved. Our website offers the opportunity to give your project visibility and to receive on-line contributions. Our website also allows you to have secure on-line access to the financial records of your project from anywhere in the world to monitor expenses, contributions, and if applicable, investment account activity. The Foundation takes care of all the paperwork, tax reporting, IRS filings and investments and Project Managers get to concentrate on fulfilling their charitable purpose.

Guidelines for an Operating Project:

  • A defined charitable purpose approved by the Board of Directors which fits within the purposes of the Foundation
  • An approved annual budget
  • Annual reconciliation of expenses
  • Quarterly updates of project activity
  • Grants for Salary must be made to an employing entity*
  • Initial Donoations of $2,000 or more to start your project.
  • Simple fee structure. All contributions have an incoming administrative fee of 5%. There is no fee assessed on wires, grants, distributions or reimbursements made from an Operating Project.

*The New Horizons Foundation does not have employees other than its administrative staff. If salaries are a part of a project budget, the employee must be employed by a separate nonprofit corporation and then a grant for salary can be made from New Horizons to cover the authorized services.
